The Great Battle
Summary
The battle of Gettysburg began with great Union advantages, and when the Confederates began shelling the Union flanks, the Federal Army was able to repel the attack. The soldiers of the Second Corps showed immense courage in the face of great violence and death. The barrage of shells throughout the day killed many men and animals.
