Will Not Expose Corruption

Summary

Article begins in 1370, continuing in 1371. Citizen editors have tried in vain to get Examiner editor to answer questions of corruption raised in Citizen editorials. States Lincoln has not defined a purpose for the war, says that the Gen. Hunter case reveals that purpose to be defeat of the rebel states. States Examiner editor wants patronage from government and that is why there is no discussion in print of corruption, war purpose, etc. Challenges Examiner to debate issues, quoting speech of Senator Hale about Navy Dept. expenses as bait.
