Taking the Oath of Allegiance

Summary

Captain Burns, Provost Marshal of Hagerstown, makes disloyal citizens take oath of allegiance. So far, 61 citizens, including William T. Hamilton, a lawyer, had been administered the oath. One man, Henry Rice, first refused to take oath, but changed his mind after a night in jail, Article includes the allegiance.
