Escape of Officers
Summary
Major John W. Wilson of Company G, acting quartermaster, and First Lieut. Isaac Wilson, of Company G, escaped with a drummer and a member of the band from the 1st Maryland Infantry, and also a Second Lieutenant from the 46th Pennsylvania regiment. All were taken prisoner at Front Royal by the rebels. They showed up in Baltimore on Wednesday of last week. They escaped from the rebels at Harrisonburg, VA, during a battle there between General Fremont's and General Jackson's forces. About 40 others also took off at the same time.
