No Credit on the Draft

Summary

Gen. Cresswell has stated that volunteers in the old military organizations cannot be credited to reduce the number of men to be drafted in Frederick County.

Transcript

NO CREDIT ON THE DRAFT.
As many supposed, there would be a reduction from Frederick county’s quota of Drafted men, corresponding to the number of volunteers enlisted since the 1st of September, and the Clerk to the County Commissioners, T. L. McLean, Esq., was much importuned on the subject, he addressed a note of inquiry in reference therein to Ass’t Adjutant General Creswell: and yesterday received for answer, “That Volunteers in the old military organizations since 1st September, can not be credited upon the quota of Frederick county in the drafted militia.” This puts an end to all calculations of a reduction to the number, based upon that expectation.
