Summary
Col. Jeffries, Provost Marshal General of MD announced that the draft will take place immediately. Recruits up to the time of the drawing will be credited toward the quotas of the cities or counties.

THE DRAFT. – The Baltimore American of Monday last, says: - “Colonel N. L. Jeffries, the Provost marshal General of this State, gives notice that the Draft has been ordered and will take place in Maryland immediately. All recruits that may be enlisted up to the time of the drawing of the names will be credited on the quotas of the city or counties where they may be received.” The quota for this Congressional District is 2,074.
