Death of Chief Engineer McCleary

Summary

Chief Engineer Robert W. McCleary, of Frederick City, of the U.S. Navy, died suddenly in Philadelphia at the age of 30. He was Chief Engineer on board the Wabash in Admiral Dupont's Squadron. He had joined the Navy in 1855 and served in various capacities on a number of different vessels. He had recently been ordered home to recover his health. He had a wide circle of friends and showed promise in his career.
