The Loses of Our County

Summary

The paper notes that as a new legislative session is about to begin, one issue should be that of obtaining relief for the citizens whose property has been damaged by Rebel or Federal troops. It may take years before the Federal Government is finally able to reimburse citizens for their losses, but the state government is in a position to help with reimbursement now. How long can people wait for indemnification? The Federal Government is in debt. Let the state pay her citizens and then eventually be repaid by the Federal Government. Some other states have already begun to pay citizens. Not only should the farmer be paid but also the merchant and manufacturer.
