The Case of Surgeon E. Kershner
Summary
Friends of Assistant Surgeon Dr. E. Kershner of Clear Spring, Washington Co. will be pleased that he has been returned to his former naval position on the U. S. Frigate "Ironsides." Previously Dr. Kershner had been arrested by Adm. Dupont, court-martialed, cashiered and sent home for writing a letter to the Baltimore American criticizing officers of the fleet for their actions at Fort Sumter. The verdict of the court-martial was not upheld by the Secretary of the Navy and Dr. Kershner is restored to his previous position.
