Capture of Guerillas in Frederick County
Summary
A report of the action of several citizens of Frederick County who encountered 7 guerillas suspected of stealing horses on Catoctin Mountain. Four of the guerillas were captured. The leader, on horseback, and two men on foot got away, but the leader was supposed to be wounded. The captured men were from Baltimore. They gave their names as Lee, Syington, Barrett and Clayton. Three of them indicated they were going "South." They were put in jail in Frederick awaiting action of the grand jury.
