A Well Known Citizen Killed
Summary
Jonathan Keplinger, a 49-year-old current resident of Sharpsburg, formerly of Hagerstown, was killed by the explosion of a shell from the Antietam battlefield. He was trying to remove its contents. He left a wife and 10 children. The paper warns of the danger of handling these shells and the number of deaths and maiming which have already occurred.
