Summary
A. G. Boyd, publisher of the Hagerstown Free Press was arrested under orders from Maj. Gen. Schenck because of the "Copperhead" position his newspaper espoused and he will be sent "beyond Federal lines." The "Herald and Torch" pleads innocent to any involvement in the arrest and says, "The support we receive from Union people is quite sufficient to satisfy all our wants..."
