Outrages and Robberies by Deserters
Summary
Detailed report of the actions of 3 "desperadoes" supposed to be Union deserters who rode through the Middletown Valley visiting a number of homes and demanding money, clothing, saddles, bridles, etc. The article names those families from which items were stolen. Ultimately, the men were caught by Messrs. W. H. Miller and S. R. Stevens near Waynesboro, PA and imprisoned in Chambersburg. They are awaiting requisition by the governor of Maryland.
