Summary
Capt. John Makechney, commanding officer of Co. B, 7th Regiment Maryland Volunteers, submitted a list of soldiers who deserted or are absent without leave, most of whom reside in Frederick and Washington Counties, to be published by the Examiner. The list was dated Jan. 3, 1863. Those who were AWOL would be listed as deserters if they did not report immediately. There were 8 names in each category and their residences are listed.
