Took the Oath

Summary

A group of Rebel sympathizers who went off [South] with the retreating Confederates last September and have since "returned here under various circumstances," have been arrested along with John W. Beard (?), "Captain of the band," and sent to Baltimore. After a hearing there before Col. Fish, Provost Marshal of Baltimore, they took the Oath of Allegiance and were released except for Capt. Beard who was a paroled prisoner and will probably be sent South for exchange. It is believed that those who were released were already "heartily sick of their adventure."
