Several hundred Government horses were auctioned off at Hagerstown by auctioneer R. Sheckles.

SALE OF GOVERNMENT HORSES. – A large sale of Government horses took place in this town on Wednesday and Thursday last, R. Sheckles[?] being the auctioneer. The sale was ____ly attended by persons from every part of the county, and several hundred horses were sold at prices ranging from $1 to $70. There were some good horses among them, while others were fit only for the bone-yard, or for the turkey-buzzard.
