Summary
Union soldiers are very grateful for kindness and hospitality of Hagerstown citizens and in Frederick the Brengle, Schley and Trail families. Rebels recruited only 90 men in Frederick area and met a chilly reception in Hagerstown, even among Southern sympathizers.
