Summary

Detailed account of the fatal shooting of Jesse B. Wharton, of Hagerstown, at the Old Capitol Jail in Washington. He was shot by sentry Pvt. Ambrose Baker, 91st Regt. PA. Wharton was an ardent Southern sympathizer.
