Movement of Troops

Summary

Following the Confederate advance through the state, the Union army began arriving in town last Friday with the arrival of an Ohio regiment, which was placed on guard duty. Troops from the 1st, 3rd and 11th Army Corps passed through over the next three days, along with 10,000 cavalry the following day. Soldiers were well behaved and purchased many items from local stores and citizens.
