CHRISTMAS IN THE HOSPITALS – Whatever of good cheer it was possible to inspire among the sick and wounded soldiers in the Hospitals here, there was abundant ____ ____ for on Christmas day, and the earnest effort seems to have been made by Surgeons, stewards, nurses and visitors to make the patients hopeful of their sufferings for one day at least had mindful only of the ____________. Turkeys in abundance, with ___, graced the __ replenished ___, and __ delicacies, as their condition would allow of, were administered to those, who were unable to participate in the general festivity. At the General Hospital No. 1, (Barracks), everything was conducted in the most admirable style, and we hear that there was no exception to this rule at any of the numerous Hospitals in this city and vicinity. The patients speak in tones of _____ gratitude for the generosity and kindness displayed by our citizens.
