The residence of J.M. Kunkel was searched and a parcel found in the garden containing a Secession flag, a photographs of Jeff Davis and Beauregard, and a photographic album of Rebel generals and ladies..

Transcript

A search was made at the residence of J. M. Kunkle, Esq., W. Church St., on Friday afternoon, for a certain box or boxes supposed to be secreted there. The particular object of the search was not discovered, but under some bushes in the garden, where it had been recently placed, was found a parcel, which on being opened was found to consist of a Secession flag, a Palmetto flag, framed photographs of Jeff Davis and Beauregard, and a photographic album of the Art of Generals, including in the collection pictures of “Lady” Davis and S. ____ Wallis. The Palmetto flag was blue, with a palmetto tree in the ____ of a serpent in the centre, and a Crescent moon in the upper corner next the staff, the devices being white. Mr. Kunkle was absent from home at the time, being ____, as is a ____, __________ place is Free!
